A month of cool, heat and some raining days, but lots of day trips plus a week at a cottage
The interaction of a great blue heron and an egret certainly caught my eye at Petrie Island. The heron asserted his "right" to a branch the egret had just landed on, but shortly after the egret returned to another branch on the same tree.
Some of the flowers blooming were the turtlehead, ground nut and a dew drop covered spotted jewelweed (aka touch-me-not or impatiens)
Looking like she was walk on water, a young lady on a stand-up board caught my attention.
One of the newly hatched map turtles was still around the dock
There were still enough mosquitos around to feed a meadowhawk dragonfly
Parc Omega has two new "attractions". A birds of prey presentation (unfortunately no in flight demos) and prairie dogs
The caribou and the Przewalski horses in drive-through enclosures allows for nice close looks at them
Two PhotoStories from Parc Omega. One at the beginning of the month and one at the end.
Two visits to different locations in Mer Bleue bog had my attention with mushrooms and a close-up encounter with some raccoons
A very brief visit to the Ferguson Forest Centre in Kemptville brought some childhood memories back of wild cucumber "fights". The cucumbers hadn't formed, but the blossoms were there, along with other flowers including lobelia.
A one week stay at a cottage near Calabogie gave me a chance to "work" with a garter snake, do insect macro work and some star trails.
