Raccoons, snakes and swans. Some of many eye-catchers in June.
The juvenile raccoons at Mud Lake, seemed very young, especially to be left on their own for at least an hour or two.
Petrie Island had a number of garter snakes slithering about. The eyes of one of them were an opaque blue. Apparently this happens for about a week whenever the snake is about to shed its skin.
A pair of trumpeter swans with four very young cygnets were swimming in a wetlands very close to the road on my way back to Almonte. While I was standing some 50-70 feet away, they were aware I was there. Only after 5 minutes or so of my not leaving, they slowly made their way back into the wetlands
The wild orchids and carnivorous plants on a boardwalk near   Alexandria really caught my eye as I wasn't expecting them at all.
Six one(?) year old turkeys were being paraded down a trail by an older male. It was late in the year for the male to be showing off, but I guess boys will be boys
