A slightly shortened month, but cold and snow prevailed. But ignoring that, I got out to see what eye catching observations during the month.
At Parc Omega Tino (the moose) and his friend caught my attention as they were together quite close to the road for a change, however they were behind fencing. The magic of Ai removed the fencing....
The various lakes within the Parc were well frozen, covered with snow, and added to the nice winter scenery, but one of the red deer walking through the deep snow, wasn't careful moving onto the road
The ice sculptures at Winterlude were very eye catching. The cold temperatures made for good ice on the canal for skating
A bit of a possible Nature story presented itself while going for a walk in the woods. Looked like an animal was using a freshly fallen tree for winter shelter. But seemingly there had been an altercation.
A visit to Fletcher was an eye opener with two owls. A great horned owl was way up in the top of an evergreen tree behind lots of branches, but my first shutter release caught his bright eyes looking down. Shortly afterwards, a barred owl flew towards us (A possible sign that someone had been baiting it)
A walk along the Jack Pine Trail started off with a raven accompanying us. Two visits to Mud Lake were typical mid-winter visits. The first provided a chance for duck take-off and in-flight shots. The second visit gave an opportunity to compare black ducks with mallards.
