October's finished already !!! The fall colours have come and mostly gone. Many migratory birds have departed the scene for warmer climes. But we enjoyed many nice (relatively) warm days during the month.
Another busy month, PhotoStories posted for Paine Pond, Fletcher Gardens, Gatineau colours, Lanark colours, Mer Bleue colours (plus second visit), Parc Omega, Mud Lake and Petrie Island
Gatineau Park, Lanark County, Petrie Island, Mud Lake 2x, Mer Bleue Bog,
A few flowers were holding on into the late fall:
Sowthistle with litigated furrow bee (Petrie island), Queen Anne's Lace (Mud Lake), pink turtlehead (Fletcher Wildlife Gardens), common blue wood aster (Gatineau park)
Bumble bees at Mud Lake and a wasp at Paine Pond were finding some last minute nectar.
A few of the bird highlights...
Pileated woodpecker at Petrie Island. American wigeon duck, wild turkey, wood ducks, all at Mud Lake. Hooded mergansers at Parc Omega. The wigeons and mergansers are passing through, the wood ducks will head south shortly
I couldn't possibly pass by these fungi at Mud Lake!!
At Parc Omega:
Rolly polly prairie dogs fattened up for winter, a newly arrived male wolverine, and a matched set of missing antlers on two elk.
Chipmunk, Fletcher Wildlife, and first ice of the season, Mer Bleue Bog
